GEOGROOVE

Geogroove is an abstract mixed reality experience made for Oculus Quest 2 and 3. As soon as you open the app, you start a ~5 minute looping experience, where a series of 4 different instruments enter and exit the space around you.

This audiovisual experience transforms the room around you into a dynamic landscape of shapes and sculptures. Virtually touching these objects generates movement, sounds, and patterns, leading to an experience that evolves with your exploration.

Project Background

Geogroove evolved from a series of experiments building unique instruments in virtual reality. I wanted to explore music creation and performance in VR, while bringing that same experience into the 'real world'. This has been shown in live settings, where 1-2 people perform together using this virtual instrument.

Notes on Downloadable VR App

You can download the .apk file which runs on Quest 2 and Quest 3 devices. I haven't tested with Quest 3s, although I would expect it to work. There will be visual differences in the passthrough layer and shaders on the Quest 2.
